What do i choose: HMO vs PPO? |
What do i choose: HMO vs PPO? hmo is cheaper but ppo gives you more choices in doctors, thats why its expensive. hmo is more common HMO's are selected doctors PPO you can pay more to see a doctor that you are currently seeing, if they were not covered by the HMO plan. PPO gives more options but is also more expensive. HMO is more common but a PPO is better for you, might be more expensive but it covers more things and lets you see specialists without referrals and such. Also covers more Rx's and more testing without having to get prior authorization. You will pay more for a PPO but you'll be able to choose a doctor and specialists that is your choice. HMO's are less expesive and you have a book full of Dr's to choose from. Most HMO's need referals for specialists from your Provider/ Dr. Go with what you can afford and meets your needs. Hope this helped. For dental?? If you are talking about dental...take the HMO. Just stay in network. PPO is more expensive and doesn't give you anymore of a benefit other than an out of network benefit. Why would you want to pay more out of pocket?? The maximum benefit is the same. It depends on how much you make per year not including your bills and rent. If you don't have that much money left over, I would recommend an HMo because PPO is a lot more expensive even though you get a wide choice of doctors, but there isn't one primary giver. |
