I have carefirst bluechoice (HMO) I am looking at prescriptions and it has 4 different categories, anyone know

GA - Generic Available
G - Generic
P - Preferred (formularly)
NP - Non-Preferred

What does the Non-Preferred mean?

Non-Preferred would be non-formulary, that is drugs not on CareFirst's list of approved drugs. Many plans do not pay for drugs that are not on the formulary. Others will pay but the member is responsible for a higher percentage of the cost when compared to a similar, formulary drug. This seems to be the case with your plan. You will pay less if you ask your physician to prescribe only drugs on the formulary.
