Hiv Testing?

I recently had sex with an escort; I used a condom but I remember I had a small cut near my groin when we had sex. It wasn't bleeding, but I would like to get a hiv test to make sure I didn't catch anything. I had sex with her about a week ago, so I know the standard elisa Hiv test won't detect any antibodies right now. I heard the p24 antigen test is a decent early detector of an hiv infection, but how long should I wait until I get tested? Are there any tests out there more accurate at detecting hiv early on. I have not had any symptoms of hiv yet, so I know the chances of me having caught the virus are pretty slim, but I still want to make sure I don't have anything. How much does a p24 antigen test or a PCR test typically cost?

First of all - there is no such thing as symptoms of HIV infection - other than the presence of antibodies - which isn't really a symptom of anything is it?

Secondly - there is no evidence that the particle called HIV causes anything, let alone the variety of diseases that are categorized under the AIDS banner.

Thirdly - there is significant evidence that the HIV particle is not transmitted by sexual contact. The world's best scientific study that attempted to measure the efficiency of heterosexual transmission of antibodies to HIV was conducted by Nancy Padian and her colleagues (Padian NS, et al. 1997: Heterosexual transmission of human immunodeficiency virus in northern California: results from a ten-year study. Am J Epidemiol 146: 350-7).

The most striking result of the ten-year study is that Padian et al. did not observe any HIV-negative sex partners becoming
HIV-positive from years of unprotected sexual intercourse with their HIV-positive partners. I repeat?NOT ONE HIV-negative sex partner became positive during the 10- year study. Therefore, the observed transmission efficiency was ZERO.

Get tested as soon as possible and please don't have sex with escorts.

The funny thing about HIV tests is that they are non specific. They have not isolated the virus that is claimed to be the cause of AIDS despite claims and "artist renderings" passed as microscope photos. Therefore, they cannot test for a virus not fully proven to exist. Also, the tests must be done in dilution. WHen non diluted blood is tested, almost always it gives off a positive result. So that must mean EVERYONE is HIV positive. There are several known conditions that can cause a false positive. Being tested and having a positive result regardless of the inaccuracy of the tests can mean trouble. If you have a positive result and then have sex you can be jailed for attempted murder if you dont bubble wrap your junk. The definition for AIDS changes all the time too. If something is written in stone as most major drug companies and research firms would like you to believe then why or how can a disease be redefined? Mutation? I want proof it exists first. There are a large group of microbiologists, virologists and doctors who are very skeptical of the HIV/AIDS hypothisis. They are labeled as loonies yet when they came out with their findings they had funding and credibility cut off. WHy? Did the major drug companies stand to lose out? AZT was developed to fight cancer and was found to be too toxic.....so it seems another culprit was needed to regenerate the project and get funding. u have to wait 3 months now after the event to get tested which works out 12wks after

There is a lot of "junk" and conspiracy theories that people are throwing at you here. Not EVERYONE has HIV. That is ridiculous. Here is what I do want to tell you. Wait at least 3 months. It sucks, but that is the earliest that the HIV antibodies can be detected ON AVERAGE. You used a condom and you are worried about a cut. It is very difficult for the virus to be passed from female to male. That's why the numbers of HIV infected women are increasing so rapidly. An OPEN would can receive the virus through body fluids, however if your wound was "scabbed" then it is closed. Therefore the virus can't be transmitted through your cut. However, get tested for all other STDs immediately!!!!

I'm surprised you don't know that condoms aren't 100% effective. Cut or no cut, you could have been exposed to HIV if she had it. Antibodies can take up to six months to appear so even if you get a negative test now, you could still be infected.

OK to answer your final question the PCR test detects the viral load in your system. So if there is HIV in your system it will detect it within days of coming in contact with HIV. However, the young lady that said that a scabbed cut will prevent HIV from getting in is basically correct. Also, the test costs about $500 and can only be administered by an infectious disease Dr and is not covered by insurance. I hope this helps. The best way to go is to abstain from sexual contact for the next 3-6 months and get tested for free at free testing site in your area. You can find a free testing site in your area here http://www.hivtest.org/

Good Luck!

"At present, there is no recognized standard for establishing the presence or absence of antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in human blood".

"The p24 antigen test is not useful for general diagnostics, as it has very low sensitivity and only works during a certain time period after infection before the body produces antibodies to the p24 protein."
