HIV phobia?

Ok I have been having a lot of sex with my girlfriend and this is the first time I have ever had any sex. The sex is great, but I am in constant fear of catching HIV despite the fact that we both tested negative for HIV on more than one test. She has been three times for it in the last 2 years, just last thursday I was in the room when the doctor told me she tested negative. It has been over a year since she has had sex with anyone else. We have had sex about probably over 100 times in the last couple months. I had like 4 different types of HIV tests done on myself, even one that detects the actual virus DNA not the antibodies and that came up negative. We have had some sex with a condom and some without. Even with a condom I am scared to death of catching HIV. Any time I feel a little sick I think " oh no I got HIV". Any kind of stomach cramps, heartburn, diarehea, cough, or stuffy nose. How can I get over this fear?

Hi, try and calm down. There is no way you can get HIV if you and your girlfriend are negative.
I understand how you feel, my girlfriend has OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and worries constantly about catching HIV. It controls her life, and most days she fears leaving the house.
You should talk to your doctor or another health professional, they will help you.
In the mean time, you should look HIV/AIDS up on the Internet and educate yourself about this virus (that's what my girlfriend does - it helps) - knowledge is power, as they say.
Good luck : )

This kind of irrational fear needs medical attention. You already know that you can't get HIV, yet you are still scared - since it's not possible to contract a disease if neither of you have it, then it is indeed a paranoia or phobia. Please see a doctor for a referral to a specialist.

Wow
If you are really that scared of catching HIV stop having sex... And always use a condom!!! Plus what you do if the test came back positive???

I wouldn't worry about it until the Dr wants to give you your test results in person in the mean time ALWAYS use a condom.

Freaking out isn't going to change the situation either way. It would be like your girlfriend thinking and acting like she is pregnant when she isn't. If her period doesn't come the day it is suppose to and she freaks out every time it happens kinda the same thing?

Best way to fight fear is knowledge.

Look if you do not have it and your girl does not have it then you are fine. It does not magically happen when you have sex. It only happens when you come in contact with the blood or body fluids of and infected person. Now if you or your girlfriend have other partners then you start planning Russian roulette with you life there.

Hi Matt.

What can I say? You have an irrational fear towards catching HIV. It's understandable being wary of contracting HIV as it isn't a walk in the park but you and your girlfriend have reliably tested negative, on numerous occasions. But being wary does not mean that you should be crippled by it. You are both HIV negative. Accept that, celebrate that and get on with your life!

If you need to, inquire about professional counselling; you can always ask your doctor about a referral. You might even want to start by talking to your doctor about your fears; if needed, ask him for a referral for to see either a psychologist or psychiarist. There is no shame in seeking whatever professional help is necessary to allow us to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Seeking professional assistance is a strong sign that you care about yourself.

Your fears about contracting HIV, are irrational and unfounded, specially considering that the two of you are both HIV and you both seem to be exclusively intimate which each other only. It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to contract HIV from her. Period. You can not get something that the she does not have; and she can not get it from you as you don't have it either.

Cheers.

every body has that fear no body wants to get aids. But u have to stop and think were all going to die sooner or later dont put ur life on hold
