DOES HIV 1 AND HIV 2 HAVE THE SAME ANTI BODIES?? read 10 points!!?

I got tested for hiv 1 and the results were negative, if i have hiv 2 will an hiv 1 test detect it, im asuming they have different anti bodies?

Because HIV-2 infections are not always detected by HIV-1 antibody tests, antibody tests for HIV-2 have been developed.

Testing for both can be done by the use of two independent tests, one for HIV-1 and one for HIV-2......OR by a combination test that tests for both.

Typically, most doctors will test for both: call your clinic and ask.

Get tested for both every 6 months.
