What information is protected by Hipaa?

Trying to find what is not allowed to be given out, IE perscriptions price etc.

Pretty much everything. Hospitals won't even verify if someone that you know is a patient.

This has gone way too far. HIPA is a terrible law and can cost lives when family can't find their loved ones who get sick.

So unless a relative has told the hospital that you may visit, that you can help to make decisions for them, you can't. Make sure that you go with your relative to the hospital, and get everything signed properly. ASK questions about HIPA when you check in.

It is no longer a matter of healing any more. It's a matter of the hospital and doctors NOT GETTING SUED. It is time to turn the tables on our health care system.

Supposedly all your personel and medical history.

I've been in the health care field for several years now & to the best of my knowledge NO INFORMATION can be given out unless you have verified that you are speaking to the patient themselves....Good Luck :-)

NEVER give out any info on a 3rd party basis.
Pricing on presciptions doesn't apply just don't pass along any info about the pt or their medical history!

Truly, any patient related information. HIPPA is the Health Insurance Privacy and Portablitiy Act and was created to secure our personal medical information. Anything related to personal info and medical history. This does not necessarily protect pricing, unless this is patient specific.

That is allowable . HIPAA stops you to share patient in formations . Prescription price information is the data owned by the medical service provider .

I think you should ask... What is NOT protected by HIPAA?

Basically... Your medical information, the way I understand it, is not as protected anymore..because you're giving the medical provider consent, or at minimum you're acknowledging by signature, that you agree for them to give your information to entities who might have a vested interest in knowing about your medical condition...

The US Government website should have all the answers you need.
