What laws surround Medical Record Release in Canada?


I know that HIPAA controls the release of MR in the US. But what regulates the release of MR in Canada? What are the statutes (if there are any) regarding copy fees, and authorizations?

A link to any central site containing these laws would be helpful :)

I'm adopted and when I turned 18 I called the hospital i was born in to find out my medical history and they told me that all files are closed after 13 years. Stupid considering that you can't do anything until you reach legal age of 18. I can't help you with a link sorry. Just my personal experience.
