My HDL was 32 what does that mean?

My total cholesterol was 198
Ldl- 145
hdl 32

What does this mean?

Your LDL is perfectly within normal range. Normal LDL is 0 - 159. Total should be less than 200 and HDL should be 40 - 59. Triglycerides should be 40 - 200. Depending on what your triglycerides are, it may be that you are in excellent physical condition, ate well the week before your test, or are malnourished. By the looks of it, I would be against the malnourished side. I really wouldn't worry much about it. You seem pretty close to the norm.

The Cholesterol Theory is a SHAM

basically, that you eat too much fat and don't exercise anywhere near enough.
LDL reflects a high fat diet, the higher the number, the more fat in the diet
HDL reflects the amount of time spent exercising, at 32, you must be a real couch potato.
Your total is still normal, on the high end, but normal. Your ratio tho is out of sight and places you at high risk for heart disease.
You can still change these numbers without meds if you start now. Cut the fat from your diet and start exercising at least thirty minutes a day, every single day.

198 is on the high side for a cholesterol count. 200 is the threshold for trouble.

Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) carry cholesterol from the liver, where it is made, to the cells of the body. In normal amounts, LDL does an important job. But too much LDL can cause cholesterol to build up on the inside of arteries. This clogs the arteries and raises the risk of heart attack or stroke. That's why LDL cholesterol is sometimes called "bad" cholesterol.

High Density Lipoproteins (HDL) carry cholesterol from parts of the body to the liver, which then gets rid of it. You can think of HDL as little garbage men, cleaning gunk out of your blood. A higher level of HDL may lower the risk of heart attack or stroke. HDL cholesterol is sometimes called "good" cholesterol.

You want your HDL to be high and your LDL to be low. High density lipidproteins move cholesterol away from the heart, while low density is dangerous. You're still in a safe range, but your HDL could be higher. This is a very base answer off the cuff, but this might help:

32 HDL is much too low. HDL should be above 40. HDL is the good cholesterol that cleans up the bad cholesterol.
Low HDL is worse than too high bad cholesterol eat more vegetables and fruit and get lots of exercise
go see your doctor.

HDL means good cholesterol..your level is low so its called low good cholesterol which should be HDL cholesterol "should" be 45 or higher for men..and 55 or higher for women.
HDL and LDL are two different kinds of cholesterol that are measured as an index of a patient's risk for cardiovascular disease. HDL stands for high-density lipoprotein and LDL stands for low-density lipoprotein. Total cholesterol measures the combination of HDL and LDL, along with several other factors. The levels of "fats" in the blood-total cholesterol, HDL (a subset called "good cholesterol") and LDL ("bad cholesterol") and triglycerides have been used for years to predict the risk of heart disease in men. Higher cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, and/or low HDL all are associated with increased risk of heart diseases in men.

HDL is the level of cholesterol and HDL is the good level but ideally it should be around 35-40 so look into how you could increase the level and I wish you well
