Low HDL and ACCUTANE? |
I have trouble keeping my HDL Cholesterol up, it's a bit below average at the moment and I take supplements to raise it, no medications.. As with any medication, you have to weigh the risks vs. benefits. Accutane has many side effects, but most are rare. Your doctor will have blood work drawn monthly to monitor side effects such as liver and kidney damage. It will increase your cholesterol and triglycerides so you will have to watch this very closely. I took Accutane 10 years ago, and it was the best thing I ever did. I managed my cholesterol with diet alone and the only side effects I had were very dry skin and some hair thinning (it came back). I had suffered with acne for 12 years and getting rid of it was worth the risk. |
