How to lower the level of triglycerides & higher the level of HDL-cholesterol? |
Recently, I have do an blood test and found out that my triglyceride level is 235 high & HDL is 28 low. How do make it to normal level? What kind of medicine should I take? Please advise... How to lower the level of triglycerides & higher the level of HDL-cholesterol? omega 3 cod liver oil Regular exercise and moderate alcohol consumption increase HDL levels...proper nutrition particularly limiting intake of saturated fats that increases triglycerides,limiting intake of salt and increasing dietary fiber by eating more vegetables, fruits, unrefined cereals and wheat bread... although many medicines are availabe now you may better consult your doctor to have a proper meds.. Under 200 is where your cholesterol should be although 235 is very close. Reduce your red meat consumption and eat fish, and fowl instead. Omega 3 supplements, even Cod Liver oil is good as is flax seed products, olive oil and canola oil. Regular exercise is important. This will help to lower your total cholesterol and raise your HDL(high density lipids) but whether it can do enough is up to your doctor. Your doctor will have to prescribe any medicine for cholesterol and there are several. |
