I am a guy with gynecomastia. This disorder has caused me to have 36B sized breasts. Should I wear a bra? |
I know that this isn't really women's health, but I found it more appropriate for me to ask this question in this section. And for those of you who don't know what gynecomastia is, it is the development of female breasts in a male. Interesting. yes sir! yea youn should that is the same size bra as me & it is weird havivg boobs& not wearing a bra duh ... I do not think you should wear a bra, but I think a camisole wouldn't hurt. If your boobs look like woman boobs (round and "stable"), then you should consider wearing a bra, or getting surgery, if they affect your life in a negative way. A sports bra and a camisole over it will not hurt and you probably won't be able to tell if you have boobs. I am so sorry that you have this disorder, I feel so bad for you :( There are two legitimate reasons for breast reduction surgery. The first is if a woman has breasts so ample that they are causing severe neck and back pain. The second is for a male with gynecomastia. It really is about the only thing that will work for you. Talk with your doctor about it. A typical bra may actually accentuate them. A sports/binding bra, or a garment to bind them down but not show the bra shape may be better, depending on what type of shirts you wear. (material and thickness) I know they make a garment that is like a short tank top, but very tight so that it can't be detected with most shirts unless you're wearing a muscle shirt. medications and many things can cause this. no one has a perfect body but we all accept ourselves and appreciate that we do not have disabilities keeping us from doing things we do to be happy. do not wear a bra. they are for women and you would not feel right would you? wear a sports shirt or an ace wrap if you feel there is a need. or a support of sort but exercises and weight loss helps. don't sweat it though because there are women who like it too. being attractive on the inside counts too. we can't all be barbie dolls. (or Ken dolls). wow...youre bigger than me (32A), wanna switch??...lol...anyways, i think you should until you have them removed..if you can... Do you want to wear a bra? Personally I think they are a pain literally (over forty years of wearing one leaves a bit of experience). Bra straps pull on your shoulders continually. Eventually the straps will leave dents in your shoulders and extreme stress on your upper back, shoulders and ribs. The more weight you gain the bigger the strain. If you experience discomfort when exercising, jogging etc. you may want a sports bra for support if the breast are not comfortable and bouncing. The question is, do you want to make your breasts look bigger, or smaller? In most cases, males who develop gynecomastia grow out of it. If you've been to see your doctor, and everything checks out ok, they WILL go away, and you'll be normal for you. If the increased size is bothersome, or you are getting teased at school, assuming you are still in school, then I suggest an ace wrap or some other binding wrap. Just be sure you launder the wrap or whatever other cloth you use, since it will be right against your skin for long periods of time, and will be placed directly under your armpits. Also, only wear the wrap when necessary. If you leave yourself bound for too long, you will experience tenderness and maybe even some swelling throughout the area you're binding. Binding your chest will not make it smaller. Only time will do that. I would say no "Let Them pupppies Breath" There are actual garments structured for minimizing the appearance. A reduction can also be done, its the same procedure used in women, and is covered by insurance very frequently. The name of the garment escapes me at the moment, but ti looks like a super tight wife beater. Call a surg supply store or have your doc look into it. If you think to need support, yes !! wear a bra |
