Excess Free Testosterone, High Estrogen, Low SHBG, Gynecomastia, Fatigue?

HI,

I suffer from fatigue, gynecomastia and obesity, amongst other things.

I recently got my blood tests back and they indicated that I have excess Free Testsosteone. The Estrogen levels are pretty high, and the SHBG is very low.

I argued with the doctor that since the Free Testosterone is so high, it is converting to Estrogen and therefore I have these problems. Plus, the SHBG is very low, which has got to count for something, right?

So I was wondering if someone knowledgable of this stuff could please assure me if I am correct by thinking that excess Free Testosterone is capable of converting to Estrogen and causing such problems.

Is this possible? And if so, is the SHBG in fact the culprit here?

Thanks a lot for whom ever replies! I am very desperate.

Regards!

Yes you are absolutely right. Excess testosterone DOES convert to estrogen. This could be why you have Gynecomastia and it could also have a negative effect on your ability to lose weight as a whole. I would definitely insist that you be referred to a doctor that specializes in internal medicine. They'll need to help you get your hormones in balance - it could be a pituitary gland problem.

Good luck and don't give up.

Hey,

I can't really answer your question, but I'd like to say that I'm in the same position you're in. I also have fatigue, gynecomastia and obesity. I'm worried it might be Cushing's disease (since I have so many symptoms). I also have excessive amounts of androgens. I don't know how high my estrogen levels are though. I also have high levels of cortisol. I'm in between Endocrinologists right now as my last one didn't really know what (if anything) was wrong.

Anyway, if you want to keep in contact, we can probably let each other know about information we find out - either through online sources or doctors, since we might have the same condition. If so, email me sometime at jelligraze@hotmail.com it might take me a bit to email you back.
