I'm 15 and my doctors discovered I had Gynecomastia about 2 weeks ago and I go to an endocrineologist on Jan. 29. to get ready to have surgery for it....My doctors told me even If I was to lose a little weight they will still be that size unless I have the surgery so like I can't wait till Monday so I can get ready for my surgery and be gynecomastia free...I hope I helped!!!

All The Best.

Gynecomastia is swelling behind the nipple in a male. It may be painful/ sensitive. It is common in boys during puberty. You are right that it will go away- with time, but it is not possible to say exactly how long. This is a good thing to ask your doctor about-- if you want to ask without your parents being present, just let them know.

Somretimes gynecomastia can be a side effect from medications. Marijuana use can cause gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia can also occur (more rarely) as a result from certain types of tumors-- in the testicle or pituitary gland (brain).

So to summarize-- this most likely is because of your age, but I would recommend checking with your physician at your next check-up. **Ask your parent's to take you to the doctor immediately if you have a lump or enlarged testicle!**
