Can gum disease spread from person to person? |
My boyfriend just recently found out that he has gum disease and he has been working really hard to get his gums back to normal health. I just recently saw him, and I was just wondering if this is even possible for gum disease to spread through kissing? Today my gums have been feeling really weird. When I was eating, they all of a sudden started hurting really badly and they feel a bit swollen now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The bacteria that causes gum disease is transmissable from person to person, but because the bacteria itself is not the only cause, gum disease is not considered contagious. Several different people can have the same bacteria in their mouth, and even with the same oral hygiene practices, will develop gum and periodontal disease at different rates. Susceptibility of the individual plays a large part in progression of gum disease. Gum Disease is Contagious I know because i went to the dentist yesterday cuz my hubby Had it!! So be careful and rinse best way to get rid of it is but Floss Ur teeth, brush, and Listerine!!! that's was what the hygienist said!! |
