Gum Disease Cost Question? |
I went to the dentist yesterday, and I have not been to one since I was probably younger. I am 26 and they told me I had this perodon... disease and that in order to save my teeth I had to be have deep cleaning done and have these antiobiotics inserted into my gums. They did half of my mouth yesterday and today they will do the other half. I will also have the two upper wisdom tooth extracted. I don't have health insurance so the entire treatment will cost me about 6000+ and I already paid for all x-rays in cash. Is this a fair price for getting all this treatment done to save my teeth? I was told that after my gums heal that I should be fine and will need to come every three months for check ups. I thought about the cost after I left the dentist's office and now it's making me wonder whether everything was just too overpriced and since Ive signed for the paperwork and they've done half my mouth, I can't really back down on it. I don't think I should, I mean it's my health that's @risk Does anyone know if I have a right to ask for copies of my chart/diagnosis or whatever? Like is there such a thing as asking for the detailed bill telling me what is cost what and how they came up to that figure that I will pay in the end? What is the proper wording that I could use so that they understand. Copies of my x-rays? can those be requested as a patient. I just want to know if I have any rights to request these things. To save your own teeth? Yes, Its worth it, and at your age. In the long run you will be thankful. Yes you have a right to your dental records. Just ask. Most doctors are cooperative. Perodon is a common gum disease. Your dentist has to cut below the gum line to remove the excess plaque. The dentist determines the price. While it is clearly worth i am 30 and was in the process of getting a brace when i was referred to a periodontist. need the same treatment as you and have been trying to find out if the costs are the norm or if i'm being done. in ireland the cost of the treatment is 3000euro which converts to just under 4000 dollars.you also can claim back a percentage of the cost at the end of the tax year....about 40%. i have been told that this |
