Are there side effects or downsides of doing Plasmapheresis for Guillain Barre Syndrome? |
My friend has GBS, and the doctors are asking if he wants Plasmapheresis to accelerate his recovery. So far he has been doing the iv treatment. The drs also said he may need to take steriods if he gets worse but i read that they dont help at all. Please let me know the pros and cons of Plasmapheresis. Thank you! Hopefully the doctors have already given your friend all the information about risks and benefits of plasmapheresis. Otherwise, how is he supposed to decide whether he wants it? If you want to find out more, take a look at the sources below. The first one talks about possible complications from the procedure, and the second one talks about the benefits in Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Whatever your friend decides about the plasmapheresis, I hope he does well. |
