Grief mood swings? |
My 4 1/2 year old died yesterday as a result of a traffic accident. I have been online all day cause I can't look at anything here. My house is full of her toys and I jsut can't see her things without breaking down. But it's different now than it's been all day. On eminute I'm crying and screaming and the next I'm completely calm, almost like detached. Is this normal for grief? Don't have a lot of experience with it up until now? I hope to never know the grief you must be feeling. From what you describe, you sound remarkably well adjusted.I think you are taking your grief in the only way you can,;one day at a time. I'm very sorry for your loss. Grief affects different people in different ways, and there seem to be no hard and fast rules except that it takes time to work through the various stages. They say that time heals all wounds, but I'm not sure that is so, particularly for a mother who has lost a child, although eventually a protective scar tissue will form.
