Anyone out there with graves disease?

I was just told that i have graves disease, i was also informed about the three options out there. I'm scared and confused and dont know which option to choose. Anyone out there who has also gone thru this, can you please write me and give me some advise. I would also like to here about what option you took and how its working for you. Thanks
Cindy

Graves disease can be treated with a simple, cheap, prescription medication. Please don't take any drastic, permanent steps like having radiation or having your thyroid cut out while you have a raging case of hyperthyroidism and are not thinking straight. See a doctor. Get a prescription. Get everything under control and start feeling better. ONLY THEN should you start thinking about having radiation or cutting your thyroid out.

I can tell you from personal experience that you are not thinking clearly and are in no shape to be making major life decisions if you have a raging case of hyperthyroidism.

My wife has Grave's Disease. She takes Synthroid, has her thyroid checked at regular intervals (and her dosage adjusted, if necessary), and leads a happy, active life. Once in a while she feels run down and we know it's time to have her levels checked at the doctor, otherwise her life is 100% normal. She's even pregnant now and doing fine. Good luck and don't worry.

I have Graves disease myself and chose to go the route of doing the I-131 treatment. All I can say is that it is a process and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I got diagnosed the first of January and did my radiation treatment in February. Its an adjustment and very frustrating at times.
