Any one out there have Graves Disease and would like to to tell me about it?

I have to do a 2-3 page paper on Graves disease!

There is a national foundation and support group.
I have it. I hate it. It is a disease of the thyriod. The thyriod is over active. There are two treatments that I knew of radiation and medication.
The meds put mine in remission for five years and tasted so bad 11 pills a day and if I ran a fever I needed to go to ER because it causes blood count to go up.
The preferred treatment for doctors is to kill the thyriod with radiation then they can manage the medication to replace thyriod, this is much easier for them. No matter what, medication has to be taken every day. I hate it.
I made a huge mistake at some point and let them kill it "atomic cocktail" is the term used. When Grave's didease is in full swing my thyriod went into "storm" and was leaking into my body which is toxic. This disease Grave's Diesaes (named for the Dr. that discovered it..but the name.. sounds fatal) caused me nervous, sweating, weight gain and loss, hair loss, skin, depression, sleeplessness, exhaustion, I felt like a PMS maniac and it would not go away I was eating so much sugar and later found out that I was making up for 2000 calories the thyroid was burning every day. When it came out of remission i could not take it and did the radiation and went from being skinny, crazy, heart racing, nervous lunitic to...over weight, hair falling out, so much hair I lost, face break out, unbelievable ... Now that my levels are decent I am normal weight, hair stayed thin, skin cleared up but there are different meds I could go on and on and it still is never right and always blood tests medication changes and panic, freezing then sweating, irritated, confused, shaking. It takes 3 months to know if the med level works , this is awful. There is animal thyriod or synthetic I take There is a need for Dr. ed regardind t-3 they hardly look at it. No one ever asks what my problem was but I was so sick from it that I could not work and was puking during the comps for my MA degree (i passed whew). It is awful. I *&%%$#$ HATE IT. Oh you can quote me on anything and ask me any thing else. Thank you, I am not going to try and perfect what I wrote, that was way too theraputic.
P.S This is like diabetes, in that it can be treated very easily, but if you drop the ball it is deadly and can result in heart attack or bulging eyeballs which is another condition.......spell check not working good luck
