Will your eyes ever go down if you have graves disease?

I have had graves disease since 96 and have had 2 seperate surgeres 1 rim implant the other lid let down and they told me that they would never go down. I'm concerned if I will be like this for ever. Do you or do you know someone that has this problem or had this problem

You are describing proptosis, the condition in which the tissues around/behind the eye, including the orbital fat and eye muscles, become swollen and inflamed. Unfortunately it is not known exactly what causes this, but it's thought to be immune related, and is generally not reversible, even after treating the thyroid abnormalities in Grave's disease.

Yes, it can get better, if you can get the Grave's disease into remission. Most doctors will not work with you on getting into remission though.

suite101.com answers my graves' disease questions. i send emails to Elaine Moore, she has graves' too.
