What is "graves disease" connected to the thyroid? |
what are the complications from thyroid desease you have hyperthyroidism. Do you get heart palpitations? Eat a lot but are losing a lot of weight, hand tremors? losing hair? bulging eyes? nervous? Hyperthyroidism is nothing to play with, you need to get on medication called methimazole to slow things down. Or better still take the radioactive iodine pill to kill your thyroid and after that you will wind up with hypothyroidism and have to take synthyroid because now you will be the opposite of hyper. Hypo makes it hard for you to lose weight and but it easier to control then hyper. I had to go 2x's to take the radioactive pill to kill ine, the first time it came back and I had to be in the hospital for a week with a heart rate of 170, I am on 3 different heat pills. It takes a long time to finally get your thyroid in proper working order, it is a pain in the ***. Every one I know has hypo and all they do is get a pill and they are fine, but hyper, Graves Disease isn't that easy and more dangerous. Make sure you take your pills all the time. I think the pills only work for hyper for 2 years the most and then your doctor will talk to you abouy having your thyroid destroyed. It is a real pain. The thyroid controls all the organs in your body. I wish you luck....................... Graves disease is the opposite of Hypo thyroidism, it's HYPER thyroid which if it goes UNTREATED you will eventually die, thus the "graves" diesease. Depends on which you are referring to. Graves Disease is usually associated with an over active thyroid, hyperthyroidism. If left untreated, hyperthyroidism can lead to a thyroid storm, which feels like a heart attack. Hypothyroidism is just the opposite......For some reason your thyroid isn't excreteing enough thyroxine and you feel sluggish & tired, cannot tolerate the cold, you can have hair loss, weight gain, and tingling sensations in the hands, women can get a hoarse, rough sounding voice.......the list goes on.........best to see a dr and have blood tests run to check the levels. If it's underactive then you will have to be on Synthroid for the rest of your life. graves disease goes along with hyperthyroid disease. Bulging eyes is one symptom that is rather obvious. it is hyperthyroidism which there is an increase in the activity of the thyroid gland.. It can result from extreme physical or emotional stress. It can occur during pregnancy,in adolescence, and in the presence of infection. Graves is one type of hyperthyroidism |
