GOUT help!? |
Can anyone recommend a home remedy for my husband's gout please? We know all the conventional dietry advice. For example we know that high purine foods cause gout and which those are. Someone recently told us that turkey causes their gout and we have avoided it which has brought considerable improvement to the condition. Also he has cranberry juice to help. The problem is, what to do when he has an outbreak in order to stop it escalating. Is there something he can do or eat please? Yes there is. Tart cherries or cherry juice. A daily dose will help to prevent it and a few doses when he has a bout will help as well. Three things have helped me stay gout free for almost 2 years, they are: i worked with a lady who had this, she said blackberry's helped alot, i think she had some sourt of pill form of this but im not sure. I have it too. Ouch. Cranberry juice has a lot of oxylates and he had better not have had a kidney stone. http://www.ask.com/web?q=gout+&search=&q... I would think drinking extra water would help - it would dilute the purine level in the joints. warning - too much water can also dilute electrolytes to the extent of causing death. have to balance the right amount of water without causing harm. best to see a doctor. A potent dose of Ibuprofren perhaps...there's all kinds of things that can cause it. I had it once, and the doctor told me to eat more healthy stuff, seeing as "rich foods" can cause it...that and take the pain killer. I went around on a crutch for two weeks. My husband has gout also. I fed him LOTS of salads, veggies and chicken. It helped him a lot. Drinking lots of water also helps to keep the purines flushed out. Cherries. Lots and lots and lots and lots of cherries. They help break down the uric acid crystals that cause the pain of gout. It should work pretty fast. The ache in your toe may be enough to knock you off your feet. Gout, a form of arthritis, often strikes without warning. According to research or other evidence, the following self-care steps may help kick the pain: |
