Can the Gout effect the ball of the foot? |
I have gout and my gout flares up near my ankle on the curve of the foot not the big toe like most, can it flare up on the ball of the foot because it hurts just like a gout attack? Theoretically, gout can affect any joints cause the uric acid crystals get deposited on the joints. The foot is the most vulnerable area coz' of gravity and anatomic location. But a lot of people do get gout flares on the ankles and also on the ball of the foot if the crystals get deposited on the ankle joint and cause swelling up to the ball of the foot. If you already have gout, you are probably aware that gout is a type of arthritis. This means that when you have a "flare up", there is inflammation in the joint. Gout or arthritis can occur in any joint, including those in the ball of your foot. |
