Hit with Gout at 24 years old? |
I've had some serious pain and swelling recently in the joint where the big toe meets the foot. The diagnosis was that I've been afflicted with gout. Being an active 24 year old male with a slim build (5'10, 135lbs), this is truly puzzling. Usually gout affects the middle-aged or the overweight. How is it possible for me to get it? Vynnie it is probably your diet or it could be a metabolic disorder. A high acid diet can cause gout in the thinnest, youngest people. Talk to your doctor and see if you need to change your diet or if it is metabolic, is there a medication you can take to regulate your acid output. Good health. Well, I have known some people in their 20's get it. It is usually to be blamed on your diet. |
