Joint pain - Gout? Psuedo-Gout? Something else?

I am 30 years old, and every once in a while I have some sort of joint pain "flare up" - almost always in my ankle, the top of my foot (not my big toe) or my knee.

It USUALLY lasts 3 days. It's mildly annoying the first day, super painful the next day (so I can just barely walk) and then stiff and a little pain the third day. By the fourth day it usually just feels a little stiff with no pain.

Is this likely something like Gout or some other form of arthritis? I dont have other symptoms (that I am aware of, anyway...)

Go and see a doctor and get a blood test that tests for uric acid levels. If these are elevated then more than likely you have gout and you must learn to control it.
You are only 30 years old, if it is gout it will only get worse when you get older unless you get on top of it now.
I had my first attack at 32 and it took me 8 years to learn how to control it.
If you are not happy with a doctors opinion then see a rheumatologist as soon as possible.
Pseudo Gout has similar effects as gout but generally only affects older people due to the different crystals ( pseudo has calcium crystals )
It could be Rheumatoid arthritis, so make sure you check with the doctor on this also.

I STRESS ON THIS : Always Seek medical advice, get your tests done as soon as possible. Some simple changes in your diet, like adding Apple Cider Vinegar or certain herbs or vitamins can help big time.
I have a large site with many articles on Gout to have a look at, it is up to date and all free.

Just remember a few things:

Gout can be dangerous in the long term if not attended to.
Always seek the advice of a medical practitioner.
Always check up on the side effects of any drug prescribed to you, as most drugs are synthetic , hence they will have a side effect.
Always check with a medical practitioner before taking any drug, herb or magic Gout pill or any other Gout remedy, better safe than sorry....

Gout can be controlled. You just have to learn to understand your body and its acidity.
Life is too short to suffer GOUT PAIN..

good luck.

It sounds like Gout to me. As you're so young, probably a change of diet will fix your problem. (Watch the seafood intake, especially shellfish) Also if you're into body building, watch what you use to bulk up. Go to webmd.com and search gout for details.

Does it come and go with the rain? Glucosamine helps and so does aleve and medical marijuana. If it is arthritis it is only going to get worse with time. Have fun with that. If you are a woman, stick to woman jobs. I worked like a man all my life and it really did me no favors. I ride Harley's, horses and snowboard at 48 years old. You only live once but be careful with yourself. Each injury will hurt for years to come.

The only way to know if it is gout is to have a blood test to check uric acid level or have doctor check fluid around the joint for crystals. Gout is very painful, If you can take ibuprofen it works the best for immediate pain relief. Do you notice the flare ups after drinking a lot of beer? or eating a lot of seafood? Gout sucks bad but it can be controlled. Best advice go to a doctor. Good Luck.
