Joint pain - Gout? Psuedo-Gout? Something else? |
I am 30 years old, and every once in a while I have some sort of joint pain "flare up" - almost always in my ankle, the top of my foot (not my big toe) or my knee. Go and see a doctor and get a blood test that tests for uric acid levels. If these are elevated then more than likely you have gout and you must learn to control it. It sounds like Gout to me. As you're so young, probably a change of diet will fix your problem. (Watch the seafood intake, especially shellfish) Also if you're into body building, watch what you use to bulk up. Go to webmd.com and search gout for details. Does it come and go with the rain? Glucosamine helps and so does aleve and medical marijuana. If it is arthritis it is only going to get worse with time. Have fun with that. If you are a woman, stick to woman jobs. I worked like a man all my life and it really did me no favors. I ride Harley's, horses and snowboard at 48 years old. You only live once but be careful with yourself. Each injury will hurt for years to come. The only way to know if it is gout is to have a blood test to check uric acid level or have doctor check fluid around the joint for crystals. Gout is very painful, If you can take ibuprofen it works the best for immediate pain relief. Do you notice the flare ups after drinking a lot of beer? or eating a lot of seafood? Gout sucks bad but it can be controlled. Best advice go to a doctor. Good Luck. |
