Anyone have gout? What's it like?

Doctor thinks I have gout. Awaiting blood tests. With medication do you still have to modify your diet? Do you still get attacks after taking meds? What has your experience been with gout?

Thanks

Gout is a build up of uric acid in the joints, mainly big toe but can affect knees and other joints. You may also develop tophi (nodules of uric acid crystals) in the ears. It is excruciatingly painful.
Diet can control gout completely - you need to cut out animal fats such as meat and cheese and include vegetable proteins such as beans, lentils and pulses. Dark red berries such as cherries should be eaten as much as possible and add celery seed to everything you can. Drink plenty of water and cut out (or significantly reduce) alcohol.
See a herbalist who should be able to clear it quickly without any side effects (which can occur with drugs). Gout can also be a side effect of other medication so check what else you are taking.

Best wishes.

usually manifests as one painful swollen red joint, tests are fluid aspiration from the joint and a blood test for uric acid levels, treatment, first line includes high dose motrin or similar products or colchcine. preventative medicines reduce number of attacks, good luck, try to get more information on webmd.com or mayoclinic.com

We had a goat once...it was pretty cool. Fun to play with but you have to be careful because they like to play, "Head Butt", and they can knock you on your "Butt". Have to feed them everyday and clean up after them because they are difficult to house train....Does it all over the place. But they are cute and if you work with them they can learn to dance with you. I'd say, yeah, get yourself a pet goat.
