Is gout usually this painful, felt like I broke my foot/toe. How long before it subsides?

My grandma and a cousin had this, and it was horriable but if you go to your doctor there is ways to help with this, your not alone and dont just take the pain..you will have to see what works for you..this is a horriable painful thing but sometimes its worse then other times..i wished my grandma wouldnt have had it..but i know its not making you feel any better so what i would do is talk to my doctor about steps i can take, or foods you can eat, or something to help you with having less side affect or even making it so you can deal with it

yes, it can be very painful and debilitating. You need to see a rheumatologist, who will treat you with medications. The doctor will also talk to you about dietary changes as well. It won't go away on it's own usually.

it last for a couple days vicodine helps alot ,2 of my friends get it after drinking alot or they say from eating alot of red meats ,look it up on the internet under health it will tell you alot about it and the causes and how to prevent it good luck . i heard it was pretty pain ful.

Very painful. Don't think it goes away but can be controlled with medications and diet. Thanks.

You need to see a doctor. I have had gout for nine years, and I have to take allopurinal, and colchicine, every day, so I do not get any more attacks. Yes, it is very painful, and when I need to, I have pain meds that I can take. Mine lead to full body arthritis, which means most of my joints, and my whole body is in pain, as I get older. It will never go away, but you can control it, by taking medication..
