Gout its as horrible as its name.?

i`ve tried to get fit and played football a couple of times but days after playing my feet have ached and become really painful the doc says it could be gout it only happens after football has any one got any remedies for this.

Gout is a form of arthritis which is made worse by alcohol. Usually attacks the big toe and really painful.
Remedies include a good balanced diet with oily fish once a week, take omega 3 each day and glucosomine with chondroitine as directed on the bottle.

It could be that you aren't drinking enough water. The uric acid can build up if you aren't properly hydrated. Try drinking tons of water when you are working out.

I know people with gout. They control it with diet - no pork and less salt. I think I heard that eating yogurt helps.

Gout is a buildup of uric acid(it could effect your heart)so watch the football. Eating plenty of cherries helps.

As other's have mentioned, gout is associated with diet, so it's unlikely gout that you're experiencing after football, unless of course your diet has changed and now includes things like chocolate, anchovies, pate etc. If your diet has remained the same, then it's more likely your problem comes from the excessive running. Maybe you have flat feet (fallen arches) in which case you should see a podiatrist. The problem may also be associated with your gait - check your shoes for uneven tread wear.

The only real remedy for gout is to avoid the bad foods and drink plenty of water.

Sounds a bit unlikely, gout is not brought on by either exertion or trauma. Did he check your uric acid levels?

Generally it is treated symptomatically with NSAIDs. Only in cases\that recur frequently are specific drugs like allopurinol used as they are maintenance only.
