Can gonorrhea cause infertility or erectile disfunction?

My husband is approaching 40 and had a wild past. I have only just recently found out that he had gonorrhea (before he met me) but says that he took medication and he is now clear. We have been trying for 2 years for a baby - no success.

In men, gonorrhea can cause epididymitis, a painful condition of the testicles that can lead to infertility if left untreated.

Indeed, gonorrhea can cause infertility, more commonly in women than in men. Usually, however, women will have this for some fairly long period of time or more than once. Men USUALLY seek treatment pretty promptly, because the presentation of gonorrhea in men is obvious, often alarming, and not infrequently uncomfortable. Treatment is quite effective, and as a result single episodes are not generally a threat to fertility in men. What may be more of a factor are some of the other infections that are asymptomatic, such as chlamydia. Multiple STDs often present in the same patient.

Semenalysis can provide a good general screen as to male factor infertility.

gonorrhea is a bacterial infection that can invade a male urethra, epididymus, prostate and seminal vesicles. It is possible that it can lead to infertility in a male but it is unlikely especially if it was treated. Infertility from gonorrhea is more comon in women, because gonorrhea usually happens together with chlamydia and together they cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) scarring the tubes leading to infertility. Even though the concominant infection is also very likely in males, it is less likely to cause infertility. There are many reasons for you not being able to get pregnat (most common one is previous birth control usage) Talk to your doctor.
