I have a goiter?

I have a goiter and don't have insurance right now. What should I do. I think it is getting bigger? I don't understand how this could happen I am not deficient with iodine in my diet.

I am the only one. No one else in my family has ever had one.

Not all goiters are caused by iodine deficiencies. Some can be caused by an over-active thyroid gland, which eventually can burn out, leaving you with an under-active gland and big lump on your throat. I would say go to a community clinic where you could be seen and get some blood work done. There are clinics that will see you on a sliding scale fee, based on your income and family size. Goiters are fairly common and are usually non-cancerous. If it is so large that it is causing food or medicines to get stuck in your throat then you may need to seek a surgeon's opinion. Any general doctor can order blood work, but if you want a specialist seek out an endocrinologist.

these happen from too much sodium..to much salt n such..u need to go to the doctor n have it checked they can be removed but im not sure if they r harmful
