Small lump on neck - is it a goiter, or is it normal? |
I have a small solid lump on the middle of my neck, which I have had for ages, about 1cm sq. Someone said it is a goiter and could indicate problems with my thyroid. Is this correct? I thought it was normal and so called goiters were much larger lumps. Is it possible you are talking about your Adam's Apple? Without seeing it, it is hard to diagnose. This could be a thyroglossal duct cyst. The only way you'll know is by asking your doctor. I think goiters can grow very large but I'm not sure. Either way, go to your doctor. It isn't normal to have a lump in your neck, it may be a goiter, they are not necessarily large, but anyhow it is in your best interests to get it checked. I would see a Doctor now. Go see a doctor for proper diagnosis and proper treatment. Although the incidence of goiter in males is much lower than females, it still can happen to anyone. Goiters vary in sizes and even shapes. There are goiters which present itself as one lump, there are times when it is multi. |
