It depends on the cause, a goiter can be a sign of many things, there may be over or underproduction of thyroid hormone or it may not affect thyroid function at all, and without knowing why it's there, it is not possible to effectively treat it. The Doc gave you a great answer... I would suggest getting to a DR.. and talking to them about what treatment is best! And don't wait... it can be a symptom of something wayyy bigger!
