Glaucoma - Is there any way to naturally decrease Intraocular Pressure (IOP)?

I'm a white female in my mid thirties. Over the past 2 years my IOP has went up. 2 years ago it was around 23 or so. Took a visual fields test-that came back ok. The doc didn't give me exact numbers at my most recent appointment, just said the pressure had went up & wants me back in a month for another pressure reading & to take pictures of the inside of my eyes for benchmarking. Asked if there were any vitamins or anything I could do nutrition wise to lower the pressure, he said that there's nothing-glaucoma is not preventable, but is treatable. Read that vitamin c can help & I had been taking about 2 grams a day for a month before my appointment. Have no family history (adopted), work at a computer full time & wonder if eye strain could contribute. Have no other health issues. Only med I take is birth control.What pressure point will damage to the optic nerve start to occur? Any natural remedies? Anyone know somebody who's had success with anything other than prescription drops?

Basic answer: no.
Reduced IOP has been associated with marijuana use, but that hardly classes as "natural."

In the absence of any other factors pressure readings around 23 are not that worrying, provided regular check-ups are performed, at 6/12 to 1 year intervals.

You don't need to worry about eyestrain or any other sort of activity, or nutrition unless it is significanlty deficient.

IOP's are not as important as they were thought to be 10-15 years ago. Then it was quite clear. High IOP's (anything much over 20) meant glaucoma. It was then discovered that some people ran their eyes at significantly higher pressure without any apparent harm.(Ocular hypertension).
Just to complicate it further, it has also been discovered that some people develop glaucoma while having quite normal IOP's (low-tension glaucoma).

So you can have pressures up to 30 and be OK, and be in trouble with pressures of 12 -16 mmhg. But both would be unusual.

If ocular hypertension is confirmed, all it should mean is more frequent eye-checks than the average. Field tests and optic nerve examination.should keep they eyes safe. Having good records, the mentioned "benchmark", will help. In such cases the pressure doesn't give us much of a guide.

I have been diagnosed Glaucoma since Nov. 05.

I have been using eye drops Xalatan which is working great for me. (one drop in each eye every night)

As far as I know glaucoma is in fact no preventable but treatable. I was also prescribed with vitamin C which can only help but will not prevent the Glaucoma

Glaucoma has nothing to do with computer or birth birth control meds.

Those who have Normal Tension Glaucoma (NTG) may have optic nerve damage even with a normal IOP.

I have NTG and had optic nerve damage when my IOP was around 21-22.

I haven't heard of any one who had success with anything other than prescription drops.

If you don't have any optic nerve damage, you are only suspected to have glaucoma and you need to use drops to drop down your IOP to prevent any vision loss.
