Glaucoma and computer use?

hi - I am a heavy computer user, and I have been seen for glaucoma for a few years now. My last checkup went better, in part because I finally started using the eye drops...

but the computer screen causes me all kinds of trouble, I've upgraded monitors tried glare screens, played with my settings, pretty much everything. my eyes still hurt every time i use the computer. I tried changing my position, distance, everything.

in the past I had special computer glasses I dont know if that would help.

It seems that the pressure added with the computer makes for not a great situation and I wonder what I can do and if I should try to quit using the computer so much, but my wife died, I 'm alone and it's an outlet tot he world.

thanks

computer use and your vision at the computer are not related all that much to your glaucoma. using the computer does not worsen glaucoma...it has no effect on your glaucoma. the 2 are unrelated.

if you are having problems seeing at your computer, you need to talk to your eye doc about your vision and possible solutions. computer glasses may be an option.

"It seems that the pressure added with the computer makes for not a great situation"

the "pressure" or eyestrain that you may feel when you are having problems seeing the computer is completely and totally unrelated tot he intra-ocular pressure caused by your glaucoma.

It sounds like yo do need special glasses for this distance of your computer. Also, try using artificial tears while using the computer. We have a tendancy to stare while on-line causing the eyes to become drier then usual. Remember to blink!
