I have Glaucoma in both eyes. What is best treatment there is for this ailment?

I was diagnosed with Glaucoma almost a year ago and have been treated with Lumigan drops. Initially Lummigan worked well but now it seems the eye pressure is creaping up.

I've had HRT exams twice; HRT is excellent for diagnosing. However, the curing of this afflection is still beyond the approach. Is there any place or anywhere I can go or a person to contact for a cure or for a better treatment?

My aunt was diagnosed with this as well. She started taking an herbal supplement and a Dr. prescribed medication. The Dr. has since taken her off her prescription because her eyes are doing better.
You can find the source of this herbal remedy by checking the links in my profile.

Hope that helps.

Untreated glaucoma leads to permanent damage of the optic nerve and resultant visual field loss, which can progress to blindness.

Both laser and conventional surgeries are performed to treat glaucoma. Laser trabeculoplasty may be used to treat open angle glaucoma. An argon or Nd:YAG laser spot is aimed at the trabecular meshwork to stimulate opening of the mesh to allow more outflow of aqueous fluid. Laser peripheral iridectomy may be used in patients susceptible to angle closure glaucoma. In it, the laser is aimed at the iris to make an opening in it. This allows a new channel for fluid to flow when the usual channel through the dilated pupil is blocked.

TREATMENT

The most common conventional surgery performed for glaucoma is the trabeculectomy. Here, a partial thickness flap is made in the scleral wall of the eye, and a window opening made under the flap to remove a portion of the trabecular meshwork. The scleral flap is then sutured loosely back in place. This allows fluid to flow out of the eye through this opening, resulting in lowered intraocular pressure. Scarring can occur around or over the flap opening, causing it to become less effective or lose effectiveness altogether. One person can have multiple surgical procedures of the same or different type.

Treatment options for glaucoma are always evolving 鈥?another reason to visit your eye doctor regularly to screen for the condition. Be sure to ask for a contrast test, which can help identify subtle changes in contrast sensitivity due to the loss of retinal cells. Also, ask for the HRT and pachymetry 鈥?a test to measure corneal thickness. As a rule, elevated eye pressure can be managed with eye drops, medication, laser treatment or surgery. If detected early, eye drops most likely will be prescribed to control the pressure and prevent peripheral vision loss from advancing glaucoma. Response to treatment is as varied as the patients themselves. Regardless of which treatment a doctor chooses (based on the patient's medical history and eye findings), the patient must understand that it is vital to follow the medical prescription regimen and to have regular follow-up eye exams. Eye drops are most commonly prescribed, although oral medications may also be used. Basically there is not a lot more that can be said of this condition. You are aware of the complications and are therefore careful with regard to your lifestyle. I would repeat that lasers are used to treat both open and closed angle glaucomas with different lasers and different techniques used according to need. There are also a variety of types of surgery for glaucoma depending on the individual needs of the patient. Treatment for glaucoma is effective and in the vast majority of cases useful sight can be retained for life providing the treatments are used properly and the agreed management regime followed. You should be aware that the loss of vision in glaucoma is permanent
Hope this helps
