Can people with Glaucoma wear contact lenses?

I have glaucoma and I'm tired of wearing glasses!

Yes you can as a matter of fact is a way to treat it. Check the link below. Hope it helps. Good luck.

that is best answered by your eye Dr=sorry

There are no generalities when it comes to health questions. There are only specific answers for each individual, and only your doctor can provide it.

Depends on the type of gluaucoma, open angle gluacoma you can wear contacts, acute angle very unlikely , check with your Ophthalmologist

I'm thinking you have open angled glaucoma (Closed angle glaucoma is an emergency condition)

The progressive blurring of vision that u experience will not be corrected by wearing glasses as the problem is in the Cup (within the Optic disc where the Optic Nerve arises). You NEED to take your medications regularly. What medications are you on now? If you're taking a combination along with timolol maleate (e.g. latanoprost) i think it's a bit progressed. Take care of the eyes by regularly taking meds as poor compliance will further aggravate the condition.

But i think glaucoma patients should not wear contact lenses as it may affect further drainage of the Aques Humor (accumulation of which leading to increased pressure buildup within the eye is causing glaucoma in the first place)

Continue wearing normal spectacles and medications.
