Glandular fever....?

Is there anything you can suggest to ease the neck pain and symptoms of glandular fever?

My neck is extremely sore and I find it hard to turn it, I am also constantly tired. Anything I should avoid? (I'm 17)

鈥擳reat the fever and pain symptoms with the usual fever remedies.
鈥擳ake a more abstemious lifestyle.
Glandular fever will definitely make you feel below par for a while and it is a good idea to:
鈥攁void alcohol
鈥攁void smoking
鈥攅at healthily and
鈥攕leep properly

Paracetamol - taking paracetamol to the maximum dose (as directed by a doctor/pharmacist) can help relieve the sore throat and bring the temperature down.
Fluids - it is vital to drink plenty of fluids such as water and fruit juices.
Aspirin gargles - soluble aspirin dissolved in water and then gargled for a few minutes often relieves sore throats, follow the instructions indicated on the packet or as directed by a doctor/pharmacist (Aspirin should not be taken by children under 16 years of age).

I would suggest a wheat bag or something.

I had GF when I was 15 and it kept recurring until I was about 20. The only way I could deal with it was to make the best of the good days and to struggle through the bad knowing the next day I may wake up feeling fine. When you feel tired, you need to rest up. I used to have a hot bath with a relaxing aromatherapy oil to ease aches and pains or use a hot water bottle. In either case you need to try to move your muscles when they are warm otherwise you will stiffen up and may risk pulling a muscle. On a bad day I would try to at least go out for a walk even if it was only to the end of the road and back - more often than not this would make me feel a little better.
I also took up cross-stitching as a way to distract myself when I was having a bad day rather than just watching TV. I hope you feel better soon.
