Glandular fever or a throat infection?

I have had a sore throat for a few weeks went to the doctors yesterday bit had to see a nurse as they were all booked. She took blood and a throat swab. And i get the results tomorrow afternoon. It could be either glandular fever or a throat infection. My glands are up loads. And I have already missed two days of school. I cant afford to miss much more. But I have no energy. What can make the glands go down.......and make me feel more alert. I am tired but cant sleep last night i slept at the most 5hours. And today I have had no luck.

Glands in your throat will swell with all sorts of throat infections, colds, and viruses; it doesn't require an infection of the glands themselves for them to be swollen.

You've probably already found out the diagnosis by now, but for future reference, remember that any time you have a sore throat and a fever, you need to see a doctor. Sore throat combined with fever is often a sign of strep throat, a common illness which can become quite dangerous and progress to scarlet fever, among other things, if left unchecked. If diagnosed fairly early on, it is very easily treated with antibiotics.

Be sure to stay home from school any time you suspect you have strep and for 24 hours after beginning your antibiotic treatment. Plus, you need the extra rest. In the meantime, gargle with salty hot (but not scalding) water several times a day, drink plenty of fluids, take Vitamin C supplements, and sleep!

i think they should put more info on Report It
