Glandular fever - again?!?

I suffered a very severe attack of Glandular fever almost 2 years ago. It was so bad - and with such severe respiratory problems that i have a heart murmer now and at the time the doctors thought i may have had blood clots on my lungs (i'm not sure how one is like the other but hey ho).

I had a mild relapse last summer - with similar chest aching, sore tight throat and exhaustion.

I feel similar symptons coming on now - chest aching, this time with a high temperature, similar sore throat and loss of apetite. If anything this feels more like im gearing up to be ill as i was the first time.

So i have a couple questions really...

I know glandular fever stays in the system - but i thought that once you had it you dont get it again - so am i relapsing or do i just attract chest infections?

Is there anything i can do to prevent relapses (if this is what it is?)

I have an appointment for another set of blood tests (first time and relapse blood test were both positive)

Unfortuantly, once you've had glandular fever you've always got it and it can recur many times. You'll be more prone to it if you're tired and run down/not eating properly/stressed etc. As time goes on it will get less serious but could always come back.

Hi I had a really bad bout years ago and I was told that you can get it again but it will never be as bad as the first time. The way i was told to prevent relapses was to boost my immune system as much as possible..... Vitamins fruit etc... to build it back up as it had been decimated.... Thats the best advice I was given... hope that helps!!
