Infectious mononucleosis (also known as glandular fever, Mono, or the kissing disease) is caused by a type of herpes virus infection, most commonly the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), but also by cytomegalovirus (CMV) and human herpes virus type 6 (HHV-6). This disease is spread via contact with secretions and blood - it is well known for being spread via saliva. Thus, people with mono should not share drinks, utensils, toothbrushes, or any saliva or other bodily fluids. If you didn't come into close contact with her, you are likely to be ok. |
