Can Glandular Fever Hide ? |
I got my blood tests back to day and it said i donthave glandular fever . but its the only thing it can be . Ave been bad for 5weeks And abit . I heard it has a period were it hides in your body ? Not sure if it can hide but once you've had it it can go into remission and make you think that it has disappeared and reoccur with a vengeance. This happened to me. A Blood Test will be positive or negative for Glandular Fever, but there can be periods when it is less noticeable, you can request another blood test and speak with your doctor! Your blood test would have tested for the antibodies to glandular fever. If you do not have these antibodies, then you have not had the virus. The antibodies can be detected down to a very low concentration and they remain in your body for years afterwards. Infectious mononucleosis is caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV, human herpesvirus type 4), characterized by fatigue, fever, pharyngitis, and lymphadenopathy. Fatigue may persist weeks or months. Severe complications, including splenic rupture and neurologic syndromes, occasionally occur. Diagnosis is clinical or with heterophil antibody testing. Treatment is supportive. If the test was negative then you do not have gladular fever. You most likely have a virus that is persiatant. Some virus's can last weeks. The test can be hit and miss, My daughter had it but the test came back neg, She was ill for months and ended up with ME. I would say the recurring attacks lasted approx 5 years. the doctor was great with her and never made her feel as though she was making her symptoms up. |
