Could it be glandular fever?

just over a month ago i was really ill, swollen glands, headache, sore throat, general aches and pains, extreme tiredness and loss of appetite, my dr said it was a flu like virus and signed me off work for 3 weeks and college for 4 weeks,

i have now returned back to my normal routines but find i am still tired all the time and get headaches and sore throats most days at least 5 days in a week and my appetite has not returned at all.

i have since returned to my dr who has booked me some blood tests for the morning, one of which is glandular fever, what are the chances of it actually being this and what other illness will th eother blood tests look for, she didnt say what the others were for just that i would have several to look for many things.

no idea ahwell, i didnt argue tho work is less stresfull than college, mayb thats y?

It may be glandular fever, or it may have been to begin with.
I had glandular fever when I was at school. It lasted a few weeks, but worse than that was the "post-viral syndrome" I had afterwards. You can get this from any virus and it leaves you feeling weak and flu-y for weeks afterwards even though there is nothing "wrong" with you.
It happens when your immune system takes a battering from the illness you've just had and it takes a long time to get up to speed again.
It is important to get lots of rest and not to push yourself too hard. Imagine that you have to start from scratch and build up slowly.
The blood tests the doctor takes may also look for things like anaemia, white blood cell count (response to other infections), hormone levels (things like thyroid, adrenal and pituitary), and blood sugar. There's probably lots more they can look for as well.
Good luck with your doc, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

Are you also being tested for mono? It has many of the same symtoms you are experiencing. Try not to worry too much and see what the tests results are. Your doctor will know what to do.

This is what Doctors do, try to cover all the bases. It's no good trying to guess what it's all about, you'll just have to wait and see, I'm afraid. Why did the doctor think you needed more time off college than work?
