Can glandular fever lead onto M.E?

And how is it diagnosed?

Apparently so, although no one is completely sure of the origin of M.E./CFS, it does seem to present itself after a virus of some sort.

There is some research to suggest that it lies dormant in your system until a specific virus awakens it.

yes, it is typical of the sort of illenss most sufferers report to have had prior to getting M.E

One in ten people who get glandular fever go on to develop ME

Good luck

Yes it can happen.

Yes & there are new treatments on the way for the infections that often cause me , ms & many other diseases including mental illness

MR BIGGS - YOUR REPLY IS SO INCORRECT. M.E. can arise in a person's body for many reasons and often from a virus so glandular fever can lead onto M.E.

There are NO treatments on the way for ME and it is not a infection. I have had it for many years now and it is the worse misunderstood illness around and varies greatly from one person to another. There are no medical treatments available except various painkillers which often make other symptoms worse. You live a live in hell and if you are extremely lucky or even get a miracle it might disappear as fast at it came.

Diagnosis is only after months/years of medical testing when all other illnesses have been ruled out. If you have private insurance maybe 6 months if on the NHS maybe 2-3 years if at all.

yes some people do get ME (also called chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) after having glandular fever but it can take ages before you get a diagnosis as after having glandular fever you can have many of the symptoms of ME which can last for more than 6 months after the infection.
