Puppy Giardia Treatment? |
10 week old pups put on giardia treatment liquid .4mm every 12 hours for one week, plus older dog just in case on pill same time frame. Sound right or should it be longer, that's all the vet wants to have them on? I thought it was a 2 week treatment. Also pups have no signs of infection, they have good appetites, not totally runny poohs. Very playful, very. at that young age could giardia have done any damage? Will washing their bedding after treatment get rid of any of the leftover infection? Thanks. also: can the 3 dogs share a water bowl during this? Reinfection is very rare, due to the immunity they have built up. Laundering the bedding is still a good idea though, for that possible1 in a million case. You don't specifiy what liquid you are using. Both Flagyl & sulfa drugs are both used, I assume you are using the Flagyl, which is the treatment of choice, and yes, this is a 5 day treatment. Your pups should do well, recovery is complete there are no long term side effects. Enjoy your pets! |
