How do you know when you've finally cured giardia? |
even after taking antibiotics and probiotics time and again, my husband constantly feels as if he still has giardia. How will he ever know if it's gone? can it be fully cured? The only way to know if he still has it is to get tested by his doctor/health care provider, which, as you probably already know, can take multiple tests as a positive reading might not come up in every sample he provides, it is common for symptomless Giardia to go untreated, but if he has any symptoms, e.g. cramping, diarrhoea, lethargy and/or weight loss, then its important he seeks further treatment. To prevent further infection, he needs to ensure that he avoids communal water sources etc. as I'm sure he's been told - also, the infection is very contagious, so you and your family/friends need to be extra careful too. really the only way is to check for it again - it is not uncommon to be reinfected - you will have to discover the source of the infection (such as water, etc.) and change that... don't know |
