Can giardia be cured without antibiotics. Will It go away on it's own?

I dont think so. Giardia is a microscopic beastie that gets into you from contaminated water. I think you have to have some kind of treatment.

Giardiasis is a diarrheal infection caused by the protozoan Giardia lamblia. The source is usually fecally contaminated water.Treatment is usually metronidazole or tinidazole, furazolidone, or paromomycin, and it is treated with flagyl. Many species of Giardia normally inhabit the digestive tract. Will it go away on its own? Difficult to say. You could be in for an extended session of diarrhea, which leads to dehydration and malnutrition. I would definitely see a doctor and fully complete any therapy prescribed.

I don't think it will go away on its own.

It is a protozoa parasitem usually caught from contaminated water. Similar to the malaria parasite but a lot less harmful. It reproduces in the intestines then its offspring are excreted in faeces. It causes diarrhoea & vomitting. The usual treatment is a course of anti-biotics e.g metronidazole, which kills the parasite.

It normally takes about 6 weeks for symtoms to go away however you can still be infectious for a couple of weeks after this time.

It is also worth noting that the parasite can be passed on by unprotected sex.
