How long do the symtoms of giardia last after treatment?

It really varies from person to person. On one end of the spectrum, some people end up with a chronic, relapsing form, and the other end of the spectrum, symptoms clear up after a few days of antibiotics and never return. Regardless of the long-term outcome, you should be free of symptoms at the end of the treatment.

If you have taken a full course of antibiotics and the symptoms have not disappeared, the doctor may have misdiagnosed the problem as giardia, or the giardia could resistant to the drugs you took. If you still have symptoms, your choices are taking a stronger antibiotic that kills everything, or maybe getting a stool culture to see if something else is causing the problem.
