Which is the most efficient treatment for giardia intestinalis -Giardiosis for infants 2-3 years old? According to the CDC Control of Communicable Diseases Manual (18th ed.), metronidazole can be used (15mg/kg child wt. given for 3 days). But for really young kids, you can give them furazolidone oral suspension (2mg/kg TID for 7 to 10 days). Metronidazole 5 mg per kg per dose 3 times a day for 5 to 7 days. Secnidazole 500 mg as a single dose may also be given. |
