So this guy walks into this old country doctors office and says,

Patient: " doctor the antibiotics you gave me for my respiratory infection seems to have cleared up my intestinal problems I have had, ( that I didn't tell you about, because I had gone to see a specialist about this some 15 years ago).

Old Country Doctor: "What were your symptoms ?"

Patient: "intestinal problems......."

Old Country Doctor: " seems like you had giardia" (a bacterial parasite)

Patient: "I went to see the SPECIALIST and he told me I had IBS, a disease of unknown cause and cure."

So the specialist, said one thing, incurable, and the old country doctor said a simple infection, giardia that could be cured and treated.

Some of you are missing a point...

A SPECIALIST labels you with a 'disease', no cause no cure.

A general old country doctor, defines giardia, easily treated.

There is a big, big, big problem with how we teach new doctors...?

Seems like they really don't want to treat the obvious...

By the way in the disease, later stages are surgical removal of intestines, not to mention all the other symptoms, that feed the psychiatric profession, like depression, schizophrenic like symtpoms, and on and on, and on, and on.....

ENOUGH OF THIS! U have posted like ten questions on this and you need tomove on. Whatever you're trying to start, sell or push for stupid giardia--LET IT GO! YEs there are parasites that cause illnesses and yes doc can be wrong--a lot! But my goodness its far morel ikely a doc will test for parasites than Celiac Disease!!

IBS means THEY DONT KNOW. So if someone is not satsified witht heir medical help, they need to seek other opinons until they get one they like!!

That's really unlikely. I don't know where you got that story, but the drugs used for giardia and the drugs used for respiratory infections aren't the same. There is a link, however, between people having had intestinal infections and having IBS (one theory is that they think prior infection may later cause IBS). Also, giardia is pretty easy to diagnose, so a specialist should have caught on.

I don't think there would be a conspiracy to keep down curative meds for IBS since so many people have it! So many people aren't receiving any treatment for it, that finding a cure would probably actually increase drug sales.
