I'm constantly dreading going to school because I always feel sick there. What should I do?

I'm 15 years old, female 10th grade, and this whole school year I've pretty much felt sick everyday, nausea, never vomiting, but the other end. I started the school year with a virus, and since then the same weird feeling keeps coming back. I'm terrified of getting sick, maybe I'm an emetophobic..(person w/ fear of vomiting). The past month I've missed quite a few days of school, my parents know how I feel. I've gone to see my doctor several times, and I've gotten tests done, such as blood, urine, stool, and they've tested for many things, such as H. pylori, giardia, mono, anemia, and everything has been normal. The past few weeks I've strictly gone off dairy, to see if I am lactose intolerant, it really doesnt help not eating dairy, but when I do I feel worse.
My parents are beginning to become upset because I never want to go to school, because I know once I get there I feel sick, I've already gone home sick twice this year - once w/ a fever.
I dont know what to do
help!

Hey there,
you'll be ok. I've been emetophobic for about 16 years now. Honestly, barring any physical conditions it does sound a lot like you have associated school with illness. Anxiety, panic disorders and phobias are tricky, in that what often happens is that there is a triggering event (such as you were sick at school) in a setting where you do not feel entirely comfortable (such as at school, where you are away from home and you have no option but to be there, so you are trapped in a sense) and you begin to associate being at school with the potential for being sick.
That nature of our digestion is such that when you worry about something, and in this case about being sick, you start feeling sick. It's just how it is and it is bloody unfair if you ask me.
But there are ways out of this mess. First and foremost it is important to feel in control. This is difficult when you are 15 and you HAVE to be at school and parents don't understand when you tell them you are scared or whatever. If you can get the parents on your side, then you may be able to make a deal with the nurse or teachers, so if you feel trapped or something, you can always leave, go to the bathroom or outside for a breath of fresh air or some other little alcove where you can gather your thoughts. That way you are in control. There are other relaxation methods, such as breathing exercises etc. Hopefully all you need is to break the cycle and to realize that it is just a body response and that you can control it or at least that it won't hurt you. And there are some herbal supplements, like 'Rescue Remedy' that you can put under your tongue and it makes the anxiety go away.
There are of course therapists and meds. Taking a drug called Celexa helped me a lot. It basically helps you maintain a higher level of the natural anti-depressant serotonin in your brain. But try other approaches first, like doing aerobic exercises, which stimulate endorphins and eating lots of green veggies.
There are also some lovely support groups online (gut reaction and emetophobia.net, I believe). My favorite one was attacked by hackers this year and is now down. Also feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.
Just remember, it does get better and it is not hopeless :)

It's possible that you have developed an anxiety disorder when it comes to school.

Perhaps you should see a doctor and go through therapy or recieve some sort of medication.

I wish you all the best.

i really hope this helps =]]]
